Sweep Picking

Listening to a lot of metal and songs with sweep picking I notice that Jason's sweep picking on the Album 'Perpetual Burn' is very clean and precise. The technique is incredible considering the accuracy required to get such a clean sounding sweep. A good example is the intro to 'Mabel's Fatal Fable' or the intro to 'Perpetual Burn', at that speed you can hear each note very clearly.

What sort of amp settings where used when sweep picking on this album? Was there much distortion, I am wanting to know whether the clarity of Jason's sweeps was purely down to technique (any tips) or was it both technique and amp settings? Thanks Olly smiling smiley

Thank you, Olly! It isn't about the amp settings. I just practiced it a lot. There are some good videos of people explaining sweeping on YouTube. Check it out.

It helps to have a good amp that doesn't make alot of noise when you brush your hand over the strings for muting too
